Cleaning House with Essential Oils

All-Natural House Cleaning Recipes

I am very particular about keeping my house clean and germ free. I want to be sure what I am using actually does that, and is effective at eliminating environmental threats! Have you ever walked into a home that was newly cleaned and smells so strong of bleach and chemicals so much so your throat closes up, your eyes start to hurt, and your nasal cavity feels like it is burning? Well that is because it is! Remember that what you inhale, affects the brain directly through your neural olfactory pathway! Toxic cleaners are just that, they are toxic and aromatically seep into your lungs (which is why your throat closes up as a defense mechanism to keep a harmful chemical out!), and your nasal cavity feels likes it is burning! I have found an easier, cheaper and more effective way to clean my house! Using these three simple ingredients I pretty much scrub my kitchen counters, sink, oven, laundry, bathtubs, showers, and yes, even toilets! They key is in using the essential oils that help purify and cleanse these surfaces. Key ingredients are:
  • Distilled White Vinegar
  • Baking Soda
  • Essential Oils
I mix generally a cup of vinegar to a 1/2 cup of baking soda and 1-2 drops of the essential oil of your choice! Here is a list of oils I use for different surfaces: Shower & Tub - Protective Blend of eucalyptus, rosemary, orange, clove & cinnamon Toilet - Melaleuca essential oils (AKA tea tree oil) Kitchen counters - Protective blend essential oils Kitchen sink - Lemon essential oil Stove top - Lemon essential oil Have fun mixing and cleaning and with adding the essential oils! You can have confidence that your house is actually clean and as you breathe in the aroma, your nose and lungs will feel good and be healthy! IMG_1402
